Recently I was asked to recommend a chihuahua breeder to a client living in Florida. I immediately thought of Uey’s chihuahua’s. I have followed her youtube channel for years and respect her commitment to her craft.

This is an EXCELLENT POINT! This is just one of the reasons I don’t allow people to visit my Home Period! We vaccinate our babies and we take every precaution to keep them healthy, however viruses MUTATE and what vaccine worked last year may not cover the mutation 6 months later. We provide videos of our babies living conditions. If that doesn’t suffice and I lose a sale, so be it. My conscience is clear and my peace of mind is defiantly worth more than a possible sale.
Now lets address these “Kennel Hoppers”
OMG do I lOVE that! I have been referring to them as tire kickers but kennel hoppers seems like a far better description. Many people believe that you just let a male and a female live together and they will become mass millionaires! When that doesn’t work and they discover they are spending FAR more than they are earning, they THEN begin to research…….
They research breeders who have been in the business for years and want a “Tour” They have no intention of pruchasing a puppy from that breeder and simply want information to make more money. Most of the time they undercut those breeders if they can. This effectively hurts everyone. I talk to breeders all the time, I tell them I’m a breeder, and ask questions give advice and encourage where I can. It’s so EASY to be honest! Professional breeders WANT you to be well informed! They Want you to know the worst case scenario! Not because they want to discourage you, because No one want’s one of their Babies to die in child birth or suffer in anyway!
I spend HOURS daily talking chihuahua, some of you who have spoken with me KNOW, I love to TALK! I LOVE to educate and believe I learn aswell. I don’t have the time to run a petting zoo. Or vet office as would be the likely outcome of exposing my babies to potential diseases. Anyone who is allowed to visit this breeder’s location should count themselves LUCKY. Her video tours are enough for ME!
I have to say I would not want that kind of headach anyway however. I already spend hours upon HOURS cleaning and tweaking our babies environment. Anyone with children knows….. as soon as you clean (exp. Bathroom) they will immediately dirty it! Can you imagine 20 plus chihuahua children??? My anxiety would be in OVERLOAD!
Not to mention the absolute waste of my time. Roughly one in ten callers are actual buyers and only one of those actually buy from us. The others will buy a slightly cheeper one from a puppy mill, or TRY! Only to be scammed!
I have said it sooo many times, only people who can afford to do a JOB that pays $1,000 for 24 hours a day for 8 weeks, 7 days a week, are those that DON’T! INSTEAD of asking “Why do Chihuahua’s cost so much?” you should be asking……”What are theses Breeders’s NOT DOING?” that would make them cost so LITTLE!
