I just heard some of the scariest news a fur mamma could! “Dognapping’s are on the rise!” News reports say they are targeting French Bulldogs as their favorites. Friendly, playful, Expensive, and of course, who ever heard of a French bully biting Anyone?
ABC NEWS had some excellent tips on protecting yourself and your pups. I’ll post the link below so you can find it. It’s a sad would indeed. Breeders and pet owners alike, are at risk!
To my fellow breeders, I have one statement of advice. Do Not allow a sale to put you in danger! Yes, there are some legitimate buyers that may walk away from a puppy. Most of us do feel pressure to allow a visit to the residence. This is because this is how We purchased. They are our Pets, our employees, our companions. However, the world is simply not safe for honest individuals any longer. Yes, I’ve had people put the pressure on. Guilt, more than anything else, has swept over me at those times. Criticizing myself, “Your just being PARONOID!”
Maybe I AM too strict with my “Rules,” However, I jump threw a great deal of hoops to “prove” I AM a legitimate breeder. First off, I do a Facebook live, to show our puppies in “Real Time.” Second, I have testimonials from happy customers that date back YEARS! Third I treat every customer with respect and as a member of the family. I also have a steadfast “Rule” that I MUST speak with you on the phone. Fourth, I have a no apologetic understanding with myself, if it feels wrong, it probably IS!
Never forget that these are your babies! You are sending your offspring out into the world. You may not be their blood, but if you ARE a good breeder, these are your babies, and their babies. I personally do NOT believe in corporate breeders. There is no place for it in my opinion. You as a breeder are providing a segregate parenthood. The shelters are, in my opinion, operating an orphanage. There is a place for both of them, but NOT corporate breeding!
Corporate breeders wouldn’t have this problem anyway. They would have plenty of financial backing and insured up the wazoo! Stay Safe my friends, be diligent and remember…. “Money comes and Goes” there is only slight compensation for your time. Money cannot replace the four-legged life force you are entrusted to Protect!
